EAA Chapter 1627 offers an IMC Club for our Members - and aviation enthusiasts - who are interested in improving their flying in instrument conditions.
The IMC Club’s purpose is to promote instrument flying, proficiency, and safety. The intent is to create a community of pilots willing to share information, provide recognition, foster communications, promote safety, and build proficiency in instrument flying.

Flying the Colorado Rockies, with more than 50 mountain peaks exceeding 14,000 feet, and into more than a dozen public-use airports located near the communities and recreational areas located there, can be an exhilarating experience. But it can also be a hazardous experience for those unaware of the unique weather related variables encountered in mountain flight and the effects on aircraft performance. In Colorado, accident statistics show that pilots without the skills needed for safe flight over mountainous terrain often get themselves into situations which are beyond their capability to handle. The mountain flying course is a program developed by the Colorado Pilots Association to improve that capability.

KAPA - Centennial Airport Administration Building / The Hangar.
Hopkins Field Airport lies on beautiful Tabeguache Park near the Town of Nucla in remote Southwestern Colorado. "Tabeguache" is Ute for "Place where the snow melts first". Where the Tabeguache Creek meets the San Miguel River is the historic Town of Uravan, population 0. Come tour the townsite of the once thriving company town and the Hanging Flume and share in our enthusiasm for mining past and mining future. Stay at the gorgeous Vestal House B&B.

"EAA Chapter 1627 - Boulder, CO - IMC Club"
Topic: Organized “Hangar Flying” Focused on Building Proficiency in Instrument Flying.
Date/Time: 1st Tues of month at 1900 MT.
Location: Journeys Aviation, 3335 Airport Rd, Suite A, Boulder, CO 80301
Description:
EAA Chapter 1627 offers an IMC Club for our Members - and aviation enthusiasts - who are interested in improving their flying in instrument conditions.
The IMC Club’s purpose is to promote instrument flying, proficiency, and safety. The intent is to create a community of pilots willing to share information, provide recognition, foster communications, promote safety, and build proficiency in instrument flying.
The IMC Club monthly programming is developed and produced by EAA, but it does not use a lecture or presentation format. Instead, an actual scenario is presented and is followed by a group discussion – so audience participation is encouraged! Since everyone has a different experience level and different airplane capabilities, we can all benefit from the discussion.
We provide snacks and drinks.
The sponsor for this seminar is: FAASTeam.
The FAA Safety Team (FAASTeam) is committed to providing equal access to this meeting/event for all participants. If you need alternative formats or services because of a disability, please communicate your request as soon as possible with the person in the ‘Contact Information‘ area of the meeting/event notice. Note that two weeks is usually required to arrange services.

KAPA - Ask the tower/ground for directions when arriving at Centennial Airport
Our next breakfast fly-in will be at Wings Exploration of Flight at Centennial Airport location between 9:30 am and 11:30am.
We will supply one breakfast per aircraft from our excellent food truck partner Cruz in and Eat.
I’m doing my best to arrange good weather for that morning so we hope you can join us. As of right now the forecast looks pretty good in the morning with afternoon thunderstorms so I’ll keep an eye on that and confirm a go/no-go decision on Friday.
As a reminder, Wings does now have its own ramp frequency on 128.925 that our ramp marshals will be monitoring so once you are on our ramp, please feel free to call on this frequency if you need any help with anything. I’m looking forward to meeting old acquaintances and making new friends so please do try to come along. Looking forward to seeing you there.
