Biography
Torry and his wife Carol are both pilots flying out of Pueblo Memorial Airport (PUB). Torry who has held a Commercial Pilots License for over 40 years, and Carol who soloed on her 50th birthday and received her ticket shortly thereafter, fly as often as they can.Torry, who retired as a math and science teacher in 2003, carries a Commercial Pilots License with a multi-engine rating as well as being an A&P, while Carol, who has a Private Pilots License, continues to teach 3rd grade at the same school where she has taught for over 30 years.Both Torry and Carol have been involved in Aviation and Aerospace Education for many years, and in 2000 were co-recipients of the United States Air Force Association, Aerospace Educator of The Year Award. For both Carol and Torry aviation has played a vital role in inspiring students towards academic excellence as well as encouraging them to look forward to aviation careers. Both Torry and Carol have also participated in the EAA Young Eagles Program as well as hosted Fantasy of Flight programs in the Pueblo schools. During the last 5 years of his teaching career Torry, each year, provided the experience of a flight from Pueblo to Denver for 20 of his students.Torry and Carol maintain an active presence on the Pueblo airport through ownership of several hangars which they rent out. Torry also provides annual inspections of homebuilt aircraft and does selected maintenance on production aircraft for various owners based at the Pueblo airport.
