    This is a fly-in to Weatherford, OK, about 400 NM southeast of Denver.  Friday we’ll tour the Stafford Air and Space museum with dinner on your own Friday night.  Saturday will be a visit to the Route 66 museum 45 minutes away in Elk City followed by lunch at Lucille’s Road House next to our hotel.  But don’t eat too much because we’ll top off the day with a private room and group dinner at the iconic White Dog Hill restaurant on Saturday night.  Happy hour both nights!


    Schedule:

    Friday, July 12.  Arrive and be tied down before 11:00 AM Mountain time!  That is noon Oklahoma time.  Lunch at the airport will be followed by a group museum tour at 12:30 PM and then be on your own to visit the rest of the museum in the afternoon.  Drivers will pick up rental cars and take members to the Holilday Inn Express later on.  Happy hour will be at the hotel at 5 PM followed by dinner on your own in town or adjacent to the hotel at Lucille’s Road House restaurant and bar.

    Saturday, July 13.  Breakfast at the hotel.  8:45 AM leave for Elk City to tour the Route 66 Museum and others in the same complex.   1 PM leave Elk City for lunch at Lucille’s Road House.   Afterwards, see a wind turbine blade at the Wind Energy Center, return to the museum, walk around town or stay at the hotel if you wish.  Just be ready for happy hour starting at 5 PM at the hotel followed by a group dinner in a private room at the White Dog Hill restaurant and bar.  For those wanting a night cap, Lucille’s Road House has a full bar.

    Sunday, July 14.  After breakfast, transfer to the airport to turn in rental cars and fly home where you can finally get some rest!  

    Stafford museum is free for those buying avgas at the airport.  Maintenance and avionics shops are on site and there are plenty of tie down spaces on the ramp.    

    Miscellaneous --

    Hotel Information:  We will be staying at the Holiday Inn Express, about a mile from the airport.  Our room rate is $99.99 per night and there is no cancellation penalty up until one day prior to the event.  Their number is 580-774-0400.  Twelve (12) rooms are being held for Colorado Pilots Association up until June 28.  

    Registration Fee:
    - Download/Print and mail in the registration fee from the following Stafford Air and Space Museum Flyer for Attendees
    - The common fees we are all sharing are the airport lunch on Friday and 4 or 5 rental cars plus fuel for them. All other costs are on your own.  The estimate for the per person cost is still in work depending on attendance and the number of cars needed.  More on that, and the manner of registration fee payment, will be sent to attendees as the date approaches.

    Rental Car Drivers:  We will need a driver for each rental car who will rent and pay for it individually and then be reimbursed afterwards.  This is a requirement of Enterprise, not us.  

    Time Zone:  Note that Oklahoma is on central time, or one hour later than we are in Colorado.  Just be sure to arrive before 11 AM Colorado time on Friday July 12.  All times other than that are in Oklahoma time.
