It awards flight training scholarships to Colorado women and hosts Let's Fly Now events, airmarkings, safety programs and a student pilot meetup.
Angel Flight West
Robert 'Bob' Kinney
Arranges free, non-emergency flights for patients who need medical care far from home. Volunteer pilots fly their own or rented aircraft and donate the cost of each flight. It serves the western states, including Colorado, where it has an active volunteer wing.
AOPA
Brad Schuster
The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, founded in 1939, speaks for pilots and aircraft owners in Washington and the states, and offers safety education through its Air Safety Institute. It works with Colorado groups, CPA among them, on issues such as seaplane access.
CAB (CO Aeronautical Board)
Trimbi Szabo
Created by state law in 1988, the Colorado Aeronautical Board guides aviation development statewide within CDOT. Its appointed members represent airports, pilots and communities, and it sets policy for returning aviation fuel tax revenue to Colorado airports through entitlement payments and discretionary grants.
CABA (CO Aviation Business Association)
Chris Swathwood
A grassroots membership group that promotes the value of business and general aviation across Colorado. It tracks legislative, airport and airspace issues, works with state and federal lawmakers, and funds aviation training scholarships through the CABA Foundation.
CAP (Civil Air Patrol, CO Wing)
Martin Kelly
The Colorado Wing of Civil Air Patrol, the civilian auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force, has volunteer squadrons across the state. Members fly search and rescue and disaster relief missions, run cadet programs for ages 12 to 18, and teach aerospace education.

Part of CDOT, the Division supports a safe and efficient statewide aviation system. It returns aviation fuel tax revenue to airports, runs the discretionary aviation grant program, maintains the state aviation system plan, and supports the Colorado Aeronautical Board.
CO Seaplanes
Raymond Hawkins
CPA's seaplane liaison works with the Seaplane Pilots Association and the Colorado Seaplane Initiative to restore seaplane access in Colorado. Seaplanes are barred from state-controlled waters, and only a few privately controlled reservoirs, such as Kenney Reservoir near Rangely, allow landings.
NGPA
Jacqueline Kudron
The National Gay Pilots Association, active since 1990, builds, supports and unites the LGBTQ+ aviation community. It promotes aviation safety, offers mentoring and scholarships, and has a Denver group (Mile-High Flyers) and a student chapter at MSU Denver.
WAI (Women in Aviation, Mile High)

Open Liaisons
CPA keeps a seat at its monthly board meetings for each of these organizations. If you belong to one, we'd welcome you to join us, share what your group is doing, and look for ways we can work together.

The Commemorative Air Force's Rocky Mountain Wing, at Grand Junction Regional Airport, keeps World War II aviation history alive. Volunteers fly and maintain its TBM Avenger and J-3 Cub, run its aviation heritage museum, and offer warbird rides, tours and events.
